The Whole is Where We Heal.

Step into Regenerative Ritual Ecology™: an integrated path where personal transformation, cultural renewal, and ecological stewardship move as one.

For over two decades, the East Coast Village has served as a place of gathering, ritual, healing, and reconnection.

What began as a response to spiritual and cultural fragmentation is now slowly revealing itself as something larger: a living model for how people may once again learn to belong to nature, community, ancestors, and the rhythms of the living world.

We are calling this new path forward: Regenerative Ritual Ecology™.

This is not a program or a method. It is a way of understanding how healing happens. At its core is the recognition that:

  • human healing
  • ecological restoration
  • spiritual practice
  • cultural continuity
  • and community wellbeing

. . . . are all part of one interconnected system.

When these elements are separated, something essential is lost. When they are brought back into relationship, something life-giving becomes possible.

Rooted in the teachings and legacy of Malidoma Somé and the Dagara worldview, this work carries forward a village-centered understanding of life as interdependence, where ritual is not separate from ecology, and ecology is not separate from spirit.

WHY “REGENERATIVE”?

We chose the word "regenerative" with deep intention.

Simply sustaining what we have been holding isn't enough when so much of our world is already fragmented and disconnected. A regenerative system is an act of devotion, it heals, it revives, and it creates the exact conditions needed for community to flourish, adapt, and belong. Here, everything is beautifully woven together:

  • The Land is the wild, breathing heartbeat of our practice.
  • Ritual is the fire that transforms and unites us.
  • Community is the steady hands that tend and protect the work.
  • Tradition is the ancient thread keeping us anchored.

Together, we aren't just surviving, we are ensuring this flame burns bright for generations to come, honoring our commitment to Elder Malidoma who proclaimed:

malidoma some

"

This spark of the ancestral flame, which I have brought to the land of the stranger, is now burning brightly.

WHY “RITUAL ECOLOGY”?

Ritual is not separate from life, it is the very pulse of it.

For generations, our ancestors used ritual to stay in sacred balance with the earth, each other, and the unseen. It gave them a place to hold their grief, ignite their celebrations, navigate transitions, and find renewal.

Modern life has largely severed these lifelines. As a result, so many of us walk through the world carrying heavy burdens - heartbreak, longing, and transitions - that were never witnessed, never held, and never brought back into the warmth of relationship.

Ritual ecology is our way of remembering. It restores ritual as an act of shared survival, a way of tending the relational threads that sustains us. Just as a forest depends on the deep, interwoven relationships between root, rain, and living beings, this work relies on the vital harmony of four pillars: Nature, Ritual, Community, and Tradition.

THE FOUR PILLARS

  • Nature: This is not simply where the work takes place. The natural world is part of the work itself.
  • Ritual: This pillar has always been one of the central pathways through which human beings remember how to reconnect, with themselves, with community, with ancestors, and with the unseen dimensions of life. It creates space for grief, celebration, truth-telling, reconciliation, transition, and renewal.
  • Community: One of the deepest wounds of modern life is disconnection from village structures that once helped hold people through birth, grief, learning, conflict, transformation, and transition. This pillar focuses on rebuilding cultures of belonging.
  • Tradition: This pillar supports the preservation and transmission of teachings connected to elemental wisdom, oral tradition, sacred cosmology, ancestral remembrance, ritual practice, storytelling, and cultural continuity.

Explore the Pillars

We are not seeking to return to the past. We are exploring how these principles can take shape in the present, in ways that remain alive and sustaining. Together, these pillars form a living ecology rooted in stewardship, healing, remembrance, and sacred responsibility that has been at the core of the Village.

  • Nature nourishes the work.
  • Ritual transforms the work.
  • Community sustains the work.
  • Tradition gives the work memory and meaning.

This framework is not a fixed destination or institutional blueprint. It is an evolving process, one that will continue to unfold through listening, relationship, and the willingness to grow intentionally for the spirit of the work to remain intact for generations to come.

COME WALK THE VISION WITH US !

The future of East Coast Village is being reshaped through relationships.

Not just through programs, but through the ongoing work of tending land, preserving ancestral wisdom, supporting community healing, and creating spaces where people can reconnect with something deeper than modern life often allows.

When the relationships with the four pillars are restored, different conditions begin to emerge:

  • People experience belonging that is not dependent on identity alone
  • Healing becomes relational rather than isolated
  • Nature is treated as a living presence rather than a resource
  • Knowledge is carried forward with integrity
  • Community becomes something experienced, not conceptual.

There are many ways you may choose to become part of this work.

  • Some people arrive seeking rest, reflection, ritual, or reconnection with nature.
  • Others come through gatherings, educational offerings, or moments of seasonal community.
  • Some feel called to support the long-term stewardship of the land itself through volunteerism or financial support.
  • Others wish to help preserve and carry forward traditions rooted in ancestral remembrance and sacred relationship. as apprentices and space holders.

Each form of participation matters. Continue to explore the four pillars in detail, or choose a path below:

Your heart might be longing to join us in circle, sharing in seasonal rhythms, retreats, deep rituals, or sacred moments on the Land.

You may feel a deep, soulful pull toward ritual ecology, ancestral teachings, mentorship, or the devotion to your own practice.

If this work moves you, we invite you to become a Keeper of the Flame. Protect and sustain our future for as little as $10/month.
