Join us on Saturday, August 1st, for a full day of connection and celebration with the Kontomblé.
The Dagara community began and is sustained by the kontomblé/kontome/kontombili (based on translation), which many in the West view as spirit helpers, teachers or simply the little people. In fact, the kontomblé are the ancient, original elders of nature that connects us all. They exist within everything in nature – like plants, mountains, animals, and the elements – and represent the total connection to all life experiences on Earth.
The kontombili act as stabilizers to maintain balance within the human condition, either to restore health, resolve crisis or offer direction to move forward. Therefore, it’s important to maintain a connection with these forces to support our well-being and survival.
As elder Malidoma would say: “Teach me, who teaches you” – inviting us to return to the primordial elders as the key source of wisdom.
During the celebration we will invoke the kontomblé, prepare spirit medicines, and explore advanced divination techniques.
What to bring:
- Your K-figures, divination kit and other medicine tools to be “fed”
- A potluck dish to share with 8 – 10 people
Note: the group weekend event is cancelled. However, if you wish to have personal time with kontomblé, you may chose to arrive early or stay later. Additional fees apply.
